Does (.exe) mean its a virus?

What about if i'm downloading and there's a warning saying its a unknown publisher (windows firewall etc.)

  2. Nope, an exe file is an executable file. Most windows programs are .exe. Viruses can be .exe too, but it doesnt mean all exe files are viruses

  3. no .exe is an executable ,all programs have an exe. if you get it in an email or something i wouldn't open it if you don't know what it is.

  4. No.... .exe stands for execution. But it can also be disguised as an a virus sometimes if you download illegal software or other stuff. Yea .exe just stands for file execution. An example would be the .exe shortcuts in your Start > All Programs folder..when you click on it, it executes/starts the program/application (which can also be a virus depending on what you are downloading). But dont worry if you are skeptical about some softwares you can scan the files before installing/unzipping them.
