  1. There is value in questioning why we are here and the meaning of life.  It's good to reflect on such things, as they make us more thoughtful and sophisticated people, which in turn is good for society.  However, I would have to say that existentialism study is a tool (a means), and not an end in itself.

To spend an entire lifetime in philosophical thought about the origins of life and our true nature, in my opinion, would be a waste.  There is much more to life than thinking about such philosophical meanderings.  So, I think it's something that one can study for a short while, perhaps a few years (as in university), but after they've got what they're going to get from that study - move on and live life more in action.

  2. I think it helps in the way that it aspires and encourages thought, enlightens and gives us a sense of value in knowing we are a part of something much larger than what we occupy on this earth.  We have also progressed as a whole due to an existential school of thought, and made some very influential and important discoveries along the way.

  3. Definitely yes. If you accept the fact that you have control over your own life, not some god, then you may live better.

  4. no, by its own admission.
