  1. Despair is one of the contributing factors for faith.

Unless one is fed up with phenomenenal reality

he wont seek the ultimate reality.

  2. A seedling grows out of the bleakness of a cold and damp soil but soil is not all that makes it rise upwards for its growth, or something it seeks its escape from, instead, when a seedling senses light and the presense of free atmospheric air it reaches out for both while still keeping to its roots.

All things return to their nature, to their best. The simplest natural reality of our being is that we exist, and faith, at its very basic level, is the assertion this fact. I can say that I realistically believe that I exist, as there are ample evidences for me to believe so. But if I think and ask myself as who am I then I realise that the realistic, of physical, evidence of my existence is not sufficient, then I have to faithfully believe in myself. I would then say – I really do not know who I am, what I am, and what purpose is my existence, or even if I really exist at all. I stop my mind running errand for such queries when I assert my faith, when I focus my mind on things I do, when I realise my will, or when I am in love, for instance.

Faith therefore come from the very the very heart of my being as saying and safely believing that I exist, that then becomes wordless knowledge of myself in my mind. I then find myself inclined to have beliefs of a certain kind, follow a religion for instance, The fact that I need to do this, one way or the other, is the very faith of my that is already their in place, since as long as myself. My faith grows not out of the gloom and doom of despair, but often through despair, and always from the very brilliance of my existence as a realisation of what I really am.

Then this is not strange that when someone finds faith it comes in form of a familiarity, something wee feel, believe and know, is for us. It is like coming home or finding inner peace, sense of exultation, purpose and elevation.

  3. No, God.

  4. We have a strong tradition in the Christian faith of pain and suffering serving as the catalyst for spiritual transformation.  It seems to me that if everything was heavenly in our lives then we would not rethink our basic assumptions about God.  I am grateful that I came to the light through the long dark tunnel.

  5. I think so. When I was totally depressed , My faith grew up for God and Now I have controlled myself....

  6. I believe that once you are able to move past the despair through faith your experience widens and you become more confident of times ahead.  When troubled times come again, the past experiences will allow your faith to be stronger and you will move past despair quicker and stronger each time.  Our faith grows when we hurdle over the obsticle of despair.

Many other negative things such as indifference or hate can also grow out of despair, so it really depends how someone deals with it.

  7. Alternatively: We increasingly seek refuge in the things that matter the more we are stripped of the things that don't matter.

  8. active religious recruitment has been known in my experience to target those in despair  - so i have to say a less than impressed  - occasionally yes!

  9. Faith grows from self-delusion and a lack of critical thinking. This leads you to accept the dominant ideology of your community.

  10. YES!!!  When there is no hope, believe in a spirit being.  It makes people feel better.

  11. I would say it takes advantage of the vulnerable

  12. the spiritual path wrecks the body, and afterwards restores it to health.

It destroys the house to unearth the treasure, and with that treasure builds it better than before.....

  13. Alas not, TP. Pain, desolation, angst, abject suffering and indescribable woe grow from despair...

Faith is born of trust, empirical evidence and a firm and devout belief in good triumphing over evil ...

  14. Good question.  People find faith in a variety of circumstances.  However, some people find faith when the chips are down and one is going through difficult times. This is because none of us want to believe that we are completely alone in times of despair.  A common phrase for this is 'Emergency Room Christians (sub any faith here)'.  Faith carries people through good and bad times alike.

  15. consider the percentage of alcoholics and drug addicts in society

consider the much higher percentage of alcoholics and drug addicts in evangelical circles (once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic, even if you dont drink anymore mr bush)

conclusion - yes, faith grows out of despair

  16. Modernity grows out of its despair in regards to faith.

  17. i suppose the faith that may grow depends on the despair that makes one turn to faith in the first place. if you have done a past deed, that was not the most acceptable, you will probably turn to a faith that will forgive you of it. if you wanted revenge on someone, you would probably turn to a faith that could give you the power to do so. there are other cases in which you have a misfortune and try to blame your faith. it can be either way, depending on the person and how they think/feel things.

i hope i answered the question okay! Have a good day!

  18. I've never found that to be the truth.  Those who find faith in desperate times are more likely to lose it when times get good.  True faith comes in the good times when you don't need God.  It's like our human relations.  Would you rather marry someone who wanted you or someone who needed you?  I think most people would want someone who wants them.

  19. Strength of character can certainly grow out of despair. Faith itself could be considered the same thing, for we all need faith in ourselves to revel in life and our own curiosity.
