Does fertilizer make a plant grow bigger?

Not necessarily.  Without sufficient nutrients the plant will not develop as it should (or maybe not at all)  fertilizer helps provide the needed nutrients but it also needs good weather good water and some care like deadheading, trimming etc.  There are some brands of fertilizer that promise great results but it is unlikely that the plant will exceed its maximum potential...Ideally the fertilizer should provide exactly the nutrients that are needed but not already present and in exactly the right amounts.  Only commercial growers have the resources to do this

    If you are trying to grow an exotic (a plant that does not naturally thrive in your area) then getting the right fertilizer is essential.

    Contact a successful garden group in your area as conditions vary widely.... even in different parts of the same yard.
