Because, when I go to pick up my dog when shes sleeping, its easy, but when shes awake she flexes her muscles and I cant pick her up. Shes a medium-sized dog (Lol I wanted a lap dog but my brother wanted a big dog so we compromised, and thats why I pick her up.) So does flexed muscle weigh more than relaxed muscle?

  1. A relaxed dog is just easier to pick up because they let you use the easiest handholds. An alert dog that's nervous enough to tense up will make it harder to grab them is the easiest way.

As the first answerer said, you can test this with a bathroom scale. Stand on it relaxed, note your weight, and then tense all your muscles and watch the weight. It won't change.

  2. no, conservation of mass states so

    1. stand on a scale relaxed

    2. stand on a scale while flexing

    no difference in weight

  3. Not  in the case you describe, because nothing is added or taken away !!!
