Does freerice.com actually donate rice?

My friend told me about the site and so far I've "donated" 9900 grains of rice. Is that site for real or no?

  1. i doubt it. maybe it's just some dude saying he'll give rice away, and you are just giving him impressions for his ads.

    but maybe they truly are, who knows :)

  3. Yes, it was created by the man who made the Hunger Site, which also helps. Its distributed by the United nations feed the hungry thing.

Yes it is for real, but I don't believe that they actually donate the "grains of rice".Theway it works is that the advertisers pay for space on the site and the site manager donates money from the advertisers to various NGO's that provide food in developing countries of disaster areas like Mercy Corps and the U.N. World Food Program. They then use the funds to purchase and distribute food.
