  1. White light is the combination of many colors (many different wavelengths).

The speed of light depends in part on the wavelength and the index of refraction of the medium through which it is passing.

If one wavelength is refracted more than another, then when it passes through a prism, the differences in the amount of refraction (bending) becomes more apparent.

So to answer your question - No - the frequency of light does not change when passing through a prism.

  2. When a beam of light crosses the boundary between a vacuum and another medium, or between two different mediums, the wavelength of the light changes, but the frequency remains constant.

  3. When white light passes through a prism it splits into different colours each consisting of a slightly different wavelengths.  White light is simply a combination of these wavelengths.

Those who say the wavelength changes while the frequency doesn't, don't know their physics.  The frequency is ALWAYS inversely proportional to the wavelength.

  4. The wave length do change but the frequency doesn't.The velocity of waves changes from one material to another. But the frequency doesn't.So according to V=f(lamda) Lamda(wave length) changes.

  5. yes, when white light passes through prism it splits in to mainly three colors red, blue and green red having the highest wavelength and green having the lowest wavelength,an example is the solar eclipse where the light of the sun passes through the Moon where refraction occurs and and changes the wave length of the sun, that is why we are told not to look or go outside during the solar eclipse as the changed wavelength of the sun is harmful to us
