i know we have the tendency to attribute a person's behavior to one's personality, and overlook one's situation. but does it happen in collectivist cultures too? or just in individual cultures like America? it is really easy to make such mistake in westernized cultures, since what we do generally reflect on our attitudes and personalities. however, to people who live in collectivist cultures(such as Pakistan), their behaviors often reflect more of their social norms and roles. therefore, do they still make fundamental attribution error? or they don't even aware of their behavior is corresponded to the social norms?

  1. Research has indicated that the fundatmental attribution error exists in all cultures, everywhere, to some extent.  However, they've found that it occurs much more often in individualist cultures, and is not as likely to occur in collectivist cultures - but it still does occur.
