Does gazpacho always have cucumbers as one of the ingredients?

I recently had gazpacho with a dinner out with family. It was delicious. I decided to try to find recipes. All of the recipes I've found on the internet have cucumber in them. I usually can't stand cucumbers. But if the gazpacho I had with dinner had cucumber in it, I didn't pick up on it.

  1. All the gazpacho I have ever eaten had cucumbers. If they make you burp, remove the seeds. If you just don't care for them, either cut them up reeeaally small or leave them put. I think they make the flavor better.

  2. Originally in Spain, gazpacho was made with only stale bread, garlic, olive oil, salt, and vinegar.  Try doing a search "gazpacho without cucumber."

  3. It usually does, and I doubt you would notice it because it's usually peeled and seeded and pureed.  Does it ALWAYS have cucumber in it?  No, that's the beauty of cooking, if, after trying a recipe, you decide you don't like it, you can remove or substitute around the ingredient you don't like.  Maybe zucchini instead of cucumber?

  4. The cucumbers add freshness to the gazpacho, and if you want to make traditional spanish gazpacho, then yes, it always has them. However, when mixed with the rest of the ingredients, I think it's impossible to single them out from the taste of it. Then again, if you don't like them, there is no reason why you should add them. You'll have your own personal summer vegetable soup instead of gazpacho, but you can still call it anyway you please! It's your gazpacho, isn't it?

  5. the one you had probably had the cucumbers chopped finely.

If you can't find a recipe you like with cucumber, you can try using only half the cucumber.

or it might work with zucchini. ( i haven't tried that to know.)

  6. Generally it has cucumber.  If you do not like it, how about zucchini (raw)?

Nothing in food is written in stone.  Just be careful not to devolve into eating salsa.  it is easy to with gazpacho.  Unless you like that (which I do).  Make salsa with extra tomato sauce and call it gazpacho!  Skew the naysayers!

  7. Yes, gazpacho is known for having cucumber, but it has so many veggies in it that if you left it out, it would still be delicious!  Here's a good recipe!
