Does genetics always work?

in my family my oldest sister (18) is taller than my parents

and my cuz is 6'5" and his dad is like 5'7

does it always work

  1. Maybe somewhere in the past is a "tall" gene.  

    We research dead people here.  Perhaps  you would get a better response over in the Biology section.


  2. Yes, it does. But you have to remember that you aren't working with 'pure stock' when you deal with humans. Your dad may be 5'7", but how tall was his dad? And his grandfather? and back for several generations? You have a whole mixed bag of characteristics - some are dominant, some are recessive, and that's what makes human development so interesting. But to answer your original question, yes, genetics do work if you have pure stock.
