I just got a ticket for parking near a fire hydrant and I wanna know if my insurance will be higher, i can't find any answers on my insurance website.

And, does anyone know exactly what constitutes a no-parking zone, cause i have to pay 40 more for that too and the spot wasn't marked. Gahh i don't want my parents to know unless they absolutely have to!!!

  1. no it dont cause they dont run your liscence they just tag your car

  2. Insurance shouldn't raise for non-moving violations as noted.

Within so many feet on each side of a fire hydrant is automatically a no parking zone whether it is marked or not.  The fire hydrant serves as all the marking that is required usually.

  3. no

  4. Typically, non-moving violations will not affect your insurance.  Only moving violations are reported (speeding, running a red light, etc).  I would give an inquiry call to your insurance just to check; you don't even have to give them your name or policy number, just call and ask.

Check around the spot where you parked.  Even though the curb might not have been red, were the no parking signs up anywhere?  If you go back out there and can't find any notifcation then I would contest that part of the ticket.
