  1. Well, I just got braces on. They don't hurt while you get them on, but probably the next day, you'll be in pain. So you might wanna take some pain killers. Tylenol helped for me.

But what really hurts, is getting them tightened. I just got mine tightened about a week ago. & my teeth are actually still hurting. & my gums are swollen.

    So I hope I helped (=

  2. They don't hurt going on, but it's afterwards that it hurts. The wires tighten and pull your teeth together and when (And if) they make you wear rubber bands on your teeth that'll hurt too until your mouth gets used to the pull. You'll eventually get used to having them though

  3. I used to have them. It goes really fast the time and it doesnt hurt when they put them on well it didnt for me... it just feels weird but after a while it feels normal and you might get like occasional pain at night (it caused headaches for me) but you will be fine!

  4. first of all that pic of you is not YOU it is my freaking best friend!

oh god well yes it does but its worth it.

  5. i wore braces b4 4 more than 2 yrs..

putting it in ur teeth by a orthodontist doesnt hurt, but u cnt eat crisp foods 4 a week coz it hurts, u may eat noodles and rice only but after a week, there's no pain, u can eat anything u want, but be careful with ur brackets, it can be debonded so visit ur orthodontist regularly 4 check ups.

wearing braces is fun and not a thing that you should be scared of.

  6. omg the pain is unbarrable when you get them tightened =0 but dont worry when u get them it wont really hurt but after 3 hours it feels like u wanna pull out your teeth i suggest you eat soft things like pudding or yogurt. but dont worry after every month they will tighten them and it will hurt for about 3 days but than you will get used to it after a year or so. So good luck =]

  7. they wont hurt wen they are being put on but they will throb later on.......my advice is that eat all the hard & chewy foods right b4 u get them on cuz u wont b able 2 do so afterwards.....

  8. a lot becuz they tighten them

  9. i used to have braces, they dont hurt while they put them on but afterward they hurt for like 2 weeks and then they only hurt if you get your braces tightened. but it is totally worth it in the end just make sure you listen to your dentist

  10. i wont lie like the orthodontist and tell u it does not hurt but it does not hurt at all getting them on but it is a bit uncomfortable and your mouth will feel dry when they are done because it has been open so long. but in a couple hours they will really hurt and if you try to eat anything our teeth will feel really weird. my advice is take a lot of advil and know it only lasts a couple of days. also if you do not want any pain there is this new device that sends a very mild electric current through your mouth and it is supposed to help. i tried it but did not use it properly so i didnt have any benefits. P.s. you'll have to ask your dentist if they have this device because it is very new.

  11. They certainly don't hurt getting on, the tightening process (every month or two) makes you teeth sensitive and a bit tricky to eat rocks and hard lollies for a few days.

    Basically, it's very bearable.

It's all worthwhile when they come off. :D

  12. getting them on dosnt hurt at all!!! but its like a hour after that they hurt like a freakin little *****

  13. When I was 15 I got braces, & then had them for two years after.

Actually getting the braces doesn't hurt, since all they're doing is bonding the brackets to the front of your tooth.

When you first get them it's a little wierd adjusting, but all-in-all once you have them the only time you'll have pain is when they adjust/tighten the braces (& even then, it's just a very mild pain).

If it bothers you, try putting a little bit of Anbesol (found at just about any drugstore or supermarket) on your gums.

If you're curious about the actual process of getting braces (or adjustment appointments, pain management, & having them removed), try checking out the provided links.

  14. Getting them on doesnt hurt at all. Your mouth is held open with an appliance (idr the name of it) for about 45 min-1 hour so they can put your braces on each tooth. Later in the afternoon, your teeth will be VERY sore, try taking tylenol/advil for the soreness or pain. The soreness/pain will go away in about a week, try eating mashed potatoes, smoothies or pudding for the first couple days to help with the pain and weirdness of eating with braces. You will be back to normal in about 2 weeks. Getting them tightened, they will be sore again for about a day.
