Does getting braces put on hurt?

Question

does it hurt? right now i have expanders on the kind they cement on and it hurt when they put that on. how long does it take for them to put it on. will it hurt after they put it on? give me all the info you have if you had braces before. please and thank you:]

YES! braces hurt. especially like 4 days after you get them on, and your teeth really start to shift. (Take Advil or Aleve but expect no relief), they even hurt a few months after they are put on when they get tightened. the worse your teeth are... the more shifting... the more they hurt.

well it doesnt hurt WHILE they put it on, your mouth just gotta stretch. LOL :) but afterwards YES. OMG. dont try biting hard on anything. and even when you talk, and your top and bottom teeth touch, itll hurt. but after you sleep, and wake up you wont notice it until youre eating. and then after a week all the pain is gone and you cant even tell theyre there :)

It probably will hurt a bit at first as your teeth will start shifting, when you bite down whilst you eat you will feel some pain.

This pain will fade and eventually go as the teeth move into their designated position for that particular visit.

The only other time you might feel the odd bit of pain is everytime you have them tightened, You will experience a bit of discomfort when you eat.

honestly, i was in tears that night that i had them on because they hurt so bad. But it depends on your ortho. Mine is notorious for being too rough.
