  1. My dad went all around the world while in the AF. he had 3 kids.

My AFSC kept me here in the states.

  2. If you insist on having your spouse live on base and/or derive other benefits, it will most certainly limit your range of assignments.  If you're willing to be separated for the needs of the AF, then you're not likely to be limited nearly as much; but it could be rough on your family life.

For more details, talk to your CO or unit clerk; one of them should be able to tell you where to go.

Hint: Most senior officers are married; weird, but it's true.

  3. it will limit your vacation, but probably not travel because you will travel for your job. you can be stationed all over the world and while there you can go visit. but remember to visit while you are in another country you will still have to take leave.

in the Army you can go 30 days into the hole. meaning you can take all the leave you have earned plus 30 days, but after that you are done. and it is very hard getting out of the hole on vacation.

you will also have to get your leave approved. even for a weekend. in the Army even if you want to go out of the "zone" 120 miles right now for us, then my husband has to apply a month before hand and take leave even on a saturday or sunday.

so yes you can still travel and take vacation, you will just use up your leave.

  4. you wont go alot of places if you use your family as your excuse...my husband has been on every tdy..temporary duty ...and every deployment that has been available to him...we have never turned orders down....and we have two kids...he has been to alot of the

United States on uncle sam's dime..he spent a year in korea...we lived in japan...we have been to hawaii and alaska...we have lived in four different states since he went in...and he has been to the "area" three times looking at a forth later this year...now on the other hand..there are a few bums that he has worked with over the years that could not deploy because of their "family" which is total bs....
