Does getting the cartlige pierced hurt?

Question

I am 12 years old and i already have 2 earring piercings right next to eachother. I am thinking about piercing my cartlige or right below it. I'm not sure which one would look better and if it hurts because people say it hurts a lot more than the earlobe. Also, is it dangerous because your cartlige can shatter? Please help! Thanks so much!!! =]

All the people who say 'guns' shatter cartilage should just get over them selves and shut the f..u..c..k up, i have 2 cartilage piercing nearer hurt and i have had no ''shattered cartilage'' or anything ridiculous like that have been fine, They dont hurt good luck!!!

i have my right cartilage pierced

my friend pierced it for me

at lunch one day and it didinlt hurt

i was just really nervous and kinda scared haha

so i screamed but it doesn;t hurt at all

and if it helps i was holding my friends hand super tight and

bitting on my id haha

Hey! I'm 12 to and I just got my NOSE periced today! It sort of hurts cause of the cartalage but really its NO big deal! good luck if you do get it done! =]

I got mine done last wed. and i can already sleep on it.  i did a gun and i am only 13.

Yes, it does hurt more and it's sore for a while.

Plus, changing earrings is a little more challenging, because you have to enter the earring through the skin, root around for the hole in the cartilage, and then find the exit hole in the skin again. The rooting around can make one very sore over and over again, each time the earring is changed.

Some people have no problem with that. Others, like myself, have a bad time with it. I let it grow back.

Yeah, it hurts. When you're earlobes are pierced, that's just extra skin.

Cartilage isn't extra skin, it's a bone. So it's going to hurt a h**l of a lot more then you're used to.

Yes it hurts! I have had many piercings (ones in places I probably shouldn't say!) and cartilige is by far the most painful. It just stings at first but it hurts for weeks after it when you sleep on it or knock it. Make sure you look after it and it should be fine tho. My cartilige is the only one I still have in now!

I've had both my upper and lower cartlidge pierced. They both hurt but the upper one hurt worst. Swelled and couldn't sleep on that side for weeks.

the gun hurts less but thats the one that people say will shatter it. the needle hurts more, but thats the way most people say is best

i got it pierced with the gun but i dont know what you mean about shatter. its fine and it didn't really hurt me but i guess its whatever your pain tolerance is.
