Does giving your kid up for adoption cost money?

i know that it costs money to adopt a child, but what about if you wanted to give your child up. do you have to pay? ive just always been really curious about this

No... it sholdn't cost you any money if you plan and make arrangements ahead of time.

No no no no no! You should never have to pay even a cent to give up your child. The parents are paying to take care of court and legal fees, as well as medical expences for the baby and most likely your medical fees too! The only price a birthmother pays is the emotional price of losing a child.

not in Canada, but you would have to check if you are in the States or abroad- every country has specific laws in regards to adoption- usually there is no fee in releasing a child

finacially nope you dont have to pay anything the satate usually pays but emotionally you will pay you will always have the constant wonder where your child id and if they are ok :)

Yes, you'll pay everyday for the rest of your life in ways you can't even begin to imagine. Before you relinquish everyone will tell you how brave, selfless, and wonderful you are. Then in MOST cases, 95% of the time, the "open" adoption will become closed. You won't know why or they will make it sound like you did something wrong. Then when you tell people that you gave your child up for adoption, they will want to know how and why you could be so cruel and cold. Single women will find you disgusting, if they can raise a child on their own, why can't you? People will talk about you and people who were adopted will come up and tell give you an earful about how much they loathe you. There is no stigma to having a child out of wedlock, so that won't fly. That's the cost without the equation of money. Be prepared to live a lie the rest of your life. Guys don't want a woman who gave her own baby away.

If you mean financially, yes, you'll be paying for YEARS of therapy.

Drop your baby off at a hospital or wherever? Try telling someone you did THAT.

If you haven't had your baby yet, give it time. Wait until you hold your baby and your family gets the chance to see their grandchild.

If you absolutely find after having the baby that you can't handle it, for God's sake, try to find a family member to take the child. But DON'T drop your baby off at some center without ANY paperwork. How would you feel if you found out you were dumped somewhere? You aren't leaving that baby ANYTHING.

no but think about it. how would you feel knowing that you dont know where your child is, how theyre being treated etc?

Red&sassy is correct it does n ot cost monitaity to give your child up for adoption, but it will cost in so many other ways.

When you try to find your child years later, then you are going to be paying alot of money!

No. And, there's a no-questions-asked policy if you drop your baby off at a hospital, fire department, police station, etc, as long as you stick around to answer questions (you can't just drop and run--they need to make sure they know who the baby is, have birth records, make sure the baby wasn't kidnapped, etc).

They have a thing in place at our hospitals in town that if you don't want your baby you can just drop it off in the emergency room and walk away...no questions asked.  This went into effect after a mother and father let their 5 month old starve to death after 8 days without food and water in his snowsuit in his carseat!!!  It's just awful...but I'm glad that they put this in effect...maybe some babies lives will be saved.

It depends on how you give the baby up.  There are many different agencies out there to go through you can always ask them.

No, usually you get all of your hospital costs and expenses paid too!

No...My parents gave me up and it only took them 5 minutes of their time.
