Does global warming extend winter and why?

No, winter is exactly the same length if ever was.  It is the period between the winter solstice and the vernal equinox.  These days are set by the rotation of the Earth about the Sun and are unaffected by global warming and the political hype being generated by failed politicians and Hollywood celebrities.

Weather is the interaction of 3 things. Water Vapor, Air Pressure and Temperature. Air pressure is either cold heavy air or lighter warmer air. Changing weather simply requires any change in the formula.

The changes and global warming do not mean we will be living in tropical weather, it means there are changes with warming the atmosphere. I think it depends on the locations and regions in this world. Generally, global warning implies the weather is getting hotter each day in the most polluted cities in this world, such as Hong Kong, Beijing, Los Angels, and New York. yes! because of thick layer of cloud.it does not allow sun rays to enter in.the temperature remains cool

Given the massive complexities of our climate, I am not sure there is a pat answer to this.

As for global warming... Its not man made.

it would appear that if global warming is causing a change, then winter's getting shorter -- in some areas at least.

It must, it snowed here in VA this week , in the middle of april,  Much more 'warming' and we will freeze to death.
