Does global warming increase the amount of mosquitoes?

I've read an unreliable source that says yes to my question. I'd like to know what kind of an affect global warming would cause on mosquitoes' natural habitat to increase their populace

  1. No mosquito's thrive all the way from the equator to the Arctic circle, only pesticides control mosquito's.

  2. As usual a lot of people need to know a few basics. Mosquito populations can be reduced rapidly and with very little effort. For yourself empty any container that has water standing in it around your yard. If it is something you do not want emptied for some reason pour a little oil in it so it forms a fair skin on the surface. The larvae grow in standing water and nee to come to the surface to breathe. The skin of oil chokes them off from breathing and they die. The presence of mosquitoes in a community is because the citizens do not know the prevention methods.

If you think a stagnate pool or pond on a neighbor’s property might be causing mosquitoes then call your local vector control or animal control to report it. Mosquitoes are something every citizen can do something about.

  3. it will increase their range; we had two sightings of tiger stripe mosquito (carries malaria) in u.k. year before last, its been extinct here since the middle ages.

  4. yeah global warming leads to an increase in mosquitos and bugs around the world this is becuase global warming causes winters to be less cold and have less snow in it, as snow and cold weather kills mosquitos and bugs! therefore an increase in the temperature will provide a warmer environment for mosquitos to live in and multiply and thus increase theri ammounts, due to a decease in the cold weather in winters that is supposed to kill a big amount of mosquitos that remain from other seasons...

  5. no but they seem to MOVE over soo it seems like that

  6. yes because Warmer weather means fewer deaths from cold weather. Global warming models all predict that the coldest areas of the planet will receive the most additional warmth. Also, night-time temperatures will increase more than day-time temperatures and winter temperatures will increase more than summer temperatures. What this means is that the coldest areas of the world, hours of the day, and months of the year will be quite a bit warmer, while the hottest areas, hours, and months will be only a little bit hotter. Therefore, deaths related to heat will not increase by much. But deaths related to cold will decrease drastically, and far overshadow the few additional heat-related deaths. But, even if equatorial, day-time, and summer temperatures increased just as much as polar, night-time, and winter temperatures, the net effect on human health would still be positive since, at current temperatures, far more people die from cold than heat.

Global warming alarmists like to claim that global warming will cause mosquito populations to increase dramatically. They are particularly worried about the anopheles mosquito, which carries malaria and gives it to humans. They claim malaria will not only be a much bigger problem in the areas where it is a problem now, but will expand to other parts of the world, like the US and Europe. Here's the problem with that logic. Malaria used to be rampant in the US and Europe, just like it is now in Africa. So the mosquitoes don't need tropical conditions to thrive and spread malaria. So, why is malaria no longer a problem in the US and Europe? Because we eradicated the anopheles mosquito with DDT! Then, about the time we were getting ready to wipe out the mosquitoes in Africa, DDT was banned by all the developed nations.

  7. The DDT ban increases the amount of mosquitos.

  8. Yes, it has around here the water level is higher than usual, we have a number of tidal lakes and swampy areas and the number of mosquitoes has definitely increased,  The number of diseases like Ross river virus and Dengue fever, Barmah forest virus is now a real problem.

  9. yes of course mosquitoes will increase

and so will all viruses and bacteria
