Question:

Does global warming tell us to live in trees?

Well if we absaloutly get rid of all the technology that global warming says we shouldn't have and live the "green" way then you'll pretty much have a midieval age at the very least, if it was taken into even more drastic measures then you'll see us in trees eating bananas and throwing feeces at each other. Was this a direction global warming wanted us to head in? I'm a skeptic and i think so

  1. People who embrace extremist views and philosophies believe all large machines are inherently evil, and - worse - science is used to justify positions "that actually have nothing to do with science."

These viewpoints are naive, including the oft-stated wish to return to a "Garden of Eden." How ironic, that these same people use cell phones, laptops and jet planes as the main tools of their trade.

  2. It tells us to buy lots of sunscreen.

  3. I always thought it was caves, but I guess trees work too.

  4. Global warming 'tells us' just the opposite-rather than regressing and "living in trees" we must develop and adopt new technologies to replace old.  Being a skeptic about GW/AGW is one thing, but abandoning technological advancement is ridiculous on the face of it and seems nothing more than a tactic that someone thinks will undermine the credibility of the adherents to GW.  What a waste of time to even respond...well, it was good for two points anyway.  Wahoo.  And it's not even my birthday.

  5. Well, if we live in the trees, we would just ruin them, thus exacerbating the problem.

  6. Sorry my friend but environmentalist greeny groups want you and I to die and leave the trees alone

  7. you don't have to change your whole life to help the earth....just change little things...like carpool once a week...don't use your car when you are going a short distance...and recycle

  8. Actually, medieval living was not very green; massive amounts of wood was burnt for fuel in inefficient houses.

people who care about this planet are more likely to push for greater technology, especially in 'smart' homes that use passive design systems to keep them warm or cool instead of using lots of energy (as an example).

Sorry to say it but like many skeptics out there, you have a very poor grasp of the science and issues involved otherwise we will end up with a future where all the GW 'believers' live in hi-tech comfort while all the skeptics, like yourself, live in trees throwing faeces at each other...

    Edit:

And you say I missed the point and am too literal... that';s funny! Of course I was being satirical but made sure I was no ruder to you than you were to me.

Still, you have made one thing abundantally clear - you really don't have a clue about the issue! Many people here are trying to tell you that the "greenies" are, in general, more supportive of advanced technology than the AGW skeptics but you simply won't listen - your prejudiced mind is made up and that's the way it's going to stay regardless of what we tell you!

Just one example - OK, two:

    1) You say the GW agenda is to "get rid of anything that produces co2" and then use CO (monoxide as an example) - different substance... poor grasp of facts/science...

    2) You also say  that CO2 is "an inevital part of industrial growth. What produces co2? thing that produce efficiant energy".

This is precisely our point - us 'greenies' don't think CO2 is an inevitable part of industrial growth - with intelligence and advanced technology, we can have growth without increases in CO2.

As for things that produce efficient energy needing to produce CO2, we definitely disagree with that (windpower, solar, etc).

You see (actually you won't because you're blind to these facts but I keep trying), you're the one stuck with 19th C technology - the greenies are firmly in the 21st!

  9. ok i dont have time to read all of that so i will tell you that global warming is fake.

  10. it would be a nice change to live in trees. i like to try new things

  11. The leftists and environmentalists (eco-terrorists) would, given the chance, have us live in caves.  No heat, light or transportation other than bicycles.  No cooking, no animals, no eating now apparently and no entertainment.  But still...the highest taxes ever!

  12. we dont have to give up on technology, we should use technology to invent the everyday things we use in a more environmentally freindly way.

  13. First, you have an interesting way of personifying global warming in many of your questions.

Second, AGW proponents do not advocate "the absence of technology."  The solution is to develop newer better energy sources and more efficient means of using energy.  We all know fossil fuels aren't going to last forever, but now the issue of GW is going to help drive the shift away from gasoline combustion engines and other "technology."

EDIT:  I see.  Conservation is definitely part of green living, but the point is not to make everyone go without electricity, transportation, etc.

EDIT:  As others have pointed out, the basic technology of cars, the gasoline combustion engine, hasn't changed much in over 100 years.  Same thing for common sources of energy for homes such as coal and natural gas.

As others have said, new technologies will include cleaner and more efficient energy sources.

  14. You really should find out what environmental scientists and policy advocates are actually saying.

The solution to globalwarming isn't giving up technology--its replacing obsolete technology with modern systems.  Oil and coal were developed way back in the 1800s.. Thisis the twentieth century.

Really, do you know how silly you sound?  You are sitting there talking about "technology" as if it were limited to burning fossil fuel.  when we have nuclear power, solar enrgy, wind/tidal/geothermal power.  Electric cars and even lightbulbs that cost a fifth as much to use.

Or is it just that you lack any imagination?

No matter--there were people who couldn't imagine a life without horses and wagons  a century ago. The rest of us aren't so limited in our intellectual capacity.

  15. Is using LED lights living in trees?   Is using better gas mileage vehicles living in trees?   Using the right technology (much of which we have now) is the way to get out of the problem, not the problem itself.   We are living in the trees now because we are unwilling to embrace the technology available.

  16. Obvoiously not! Global Warming is not telling us to live in trees, btw, it aint telling us anything, all its doing is silent and scientist can just gues whats gonna happen if it keeps on.

And most likely, it'll be bad.

The only way to save this, is obviously not to leave homes and go back to trees, that wouldnt be much of help.

What  the need of the time is to use non-conventional resources to produce energy rather than the polluting ones, living in homes does not cause global warming but smoking fuels does.Im not saying to kick your cars from a cliff and walk the rest of your life, but to make cars that are more cleaner in the terms of environment.

We have made the earth so bad, that if we stop everything what we are doing and go back to trees or even some another planet, the earth might continue to deteriorate. now its not the time for only prevention but also for cure, we have to fix what we have done to our planet, and quickly as there is not enough time left.
