Depends on one's belief system.

My personal belief is that the soul is breathed into the baby when it takes its first breath.  

While the foetus is still in the womb, I believe it is protected by the mother's soul; and is therefore free to develop as intended.

All living things have a soul, and all living things have a fighting chance. The fact that the fetus gets aborted is due to godless decisions made by those who don't wish to be encumbered by another human life. It is a fact of life that all of us are born to die, and that is due to sin in the world. Some of us die sooner than others because the sin is waiting in the clinic to catch them when they are most vulnerable.

That said, I do understand that at times it is more important to save the life of the mother, if the pregnancy might kill her.

I like to believe so because even if it may not work out. the mother will still have a bond with the fetus. I think that's how your mom always know when your up to no good or when your upset cause you have that bond since the womb.and even if god knows what your going to do. He would still like you to make the good choice and not the wrong one

Yes, God is all merciful and all knowing (which means he controls and knows the time of your death). Aborted children and people killed by others are all part of his special plan. We should reward women who abort and reward suiciders, murderers, and terrorists because they are fulfilling God's special plan. There are several school's of thought.  Some religions hold that the fetus is endowed with a "soul" from the moment of conception.  An abortion thus releases the soul either back to god or to some other area they have created within their mythology.  Other religions hold that the fetus is endowed with a soul during the time of "quickening" which is the time when the Woman can typically feel it moving around (about 15 - 16 weeks pregnant).  For these religions, an abortion within the first trimester are generally dismissed since there was no soul in the first place.  An abortion after the first trimester could be considered "wrong" within these religions if it is done for a "superficial" reason.  And still other religions hold that the fetus is not imbued with a soul until birth, the movements felt before birth are not purposeful but are reflexes (and even dead bodies have reflexes and can move).  

Basically, it all depends on what you personally believe in.

And, I think I should point out to you that in areas where abortion is Legal, and therefore SAFE, coat hangers are not used.  It is only in areas where abortion is illegal where Women kill themselves trying to abort through all manner of methods.

The whole idea that fetuses have a soul depends on one's personal beliefs, btw.

People have free will. Even in conservative belief systems, it is taught that all human beings have a choice. God doesn't "know" what choice we will make before we make it..therefore how could God "know" that someone was going to have an abortion?

God knew you before you were conceived. God does know what people will do. Babies do have a soul. Just because a baby has a soul, doesn't mean that they would ' feel the coat hanger ' during abortion. It means that they will go back to God.

I don't believe in souls, but it they exist, it is possible that they're not attached until later.  Lots of people like to go on and on about the moment of conception being the beginning of human life, but the soul can't be measured so it's absurd for someone to claim they know the moment of attachment.

It's one thing to believe in God, but to think anyone can know this much about the soul is just going way too far.
