I have heard the grapefruit juice and eating grapefruits can have diffferent effects on medications. Sometimes it decreases their effectiveness and sometimes it makes medications stronger. I found results on oral birth control pills by searching on google but i cant find any information on whether or not my Nuva Ring is affected by eating/drinking grapefruit... any help is appreciated. links are REALLY appreciated!

  1. if it did, then legally, it would say  so, in the leaflet you got when it was prescribed, i have heard this effects heart tablets due to the enzyme in grapefruits, etc but not sure about contraceptive effectiveness being lost .Never heard of that before. Plus never heard of anyone who eats grapefruit as it's rotten lol

  2. I think that mainly has to do with heart medication, seeing how a lot of people in my family can't have grapefruit products anymore because of their medication. I too am on Nuva Ring and I've read over that pamphlet a million times and there is nothing about grapefruit affecting the effectiveness of the Nuva Ring. The only thing you have to watch out for is antibiotics.
