Some groundhogs may possibly have rabies, but definitely not all of them. If you have been bitten by a groundhog or someone else has, contact your doctor, just in case. You may have to call Pest Control to capture the groundhog so it can be tested.

Try this.........a groundhog could theoretically have rabies.   However,  the risk of getting rabies from a groundhog is very low.  Because they are so small,  the chances are that they would not survive an attack by another rabid animal.

groundhogs can contract rabies just like any other animal (although groundhogs probably unlikely). Try and stay away from wild animals, but if you have one in your possession, try and get it tested

Mammals don't "HAVE" rabies, they CAN HAVE it. If ALL mammals had rabies they would be EXTINCT. If a groundhog has been bitten by a rabid animal it COULD catch rabies.

Yes. :) infact my friend's 2 month old puppy had to be put to sleep because it was bitten by a groundhog and caught rabies. the puppy, being to young to get a rabies shot, unfortunately had to be put to sleep :( my friend cried for a long time. it was terrible....
