  1. Not necessarily. I mean I'm not an expert golfer but I play off and on. I'm in good shape as a soccer player so I have close to a six pack. But look at John Daly. He is one of the premier players and he aint anywhere near a six pack. I mean he has a keg and a half.

  2. Strong abs help in any sport. This means you have a smooth flexible core to start with. Alot easier that swinging around my keg belly. You will hit it further with practice and nothing more. Your body can only generate so much swing speed so don't try to build muscle to hit it farther. Just work on your perfect tempo.

  3. Phil Mickelson, John Daly and Craig Stadler would disagree

  4. Absolutely, most of the power in the golf swing comes from the core.

  5. having a good forearm from being a jerk off, helps with golf

  6. Yes, having strong abs is important to the golf swing. Having strong abs is a big part of turning your trunk, which is one of the keys to a proper backswing. You don't need to have a six-pack, but you need to be comfortable turning the upper part of the body. People with weak abs will tend to have an all arm swing.

  7. When I was like 10 my dad had me work my core muscles to strengthen them so I could drive it farther. During the next season I gained little distance.  The next winter I worked on my leg muscles hard thinking it would help when walking the course but instead it also helped my ability to drive the ball.  I went from hitting the ball around 180 to at least 200.  I have worked on my legs hard every offseason since and can currently drive the ball around 285.

  8. have 4 pack abs but i dont see the difference between then and now...i believe its the pendulum momentum, hip, arm position and timing makes the game...not abs lol...
