Question:

Does having a short RAM intake reduce gas milage or help gas milage?

I was thinkin of installing a short RAM intake but i hear that it reduces gas milage and i just wanna be sure because i always thought it helped it. Oh and im putting it on a 94 mazda mx3 auto 1.6 L 4 cyl.

  1. It won't hurt your mpg because your engine won't be working as hard to get the air.  However, you won't notice any power increase unless you have forced air induction.


  2. It depends on how the ECU is programmed to react to the slight increase in air flow.  I'm not familiar with your car but from the year, I would guess it will just increase the fuel flow a little and add a little power but decrease mileage.  It wil depend on how you drive though.
