Since I was diagnosed as having an ovarian cyst this month,

would I have ovulated later in my cycle?

How common is it to ovulate a few days before my period is due?

  1. If you had a cyst this month its possible you didnt ovulate at all. Are you charting and using OPKs?

If you ovulate a few days before your period is due then your luteal phase of your cycle would not be long enough to support a pregnancy. This phase should be AT LEAST 10 days long.

  2. The same thing happened to me this month as Blossom. U/S revealed and active cyst and my IVF cycle was cancelled the day I was supposed to start FSH meds. I have been using OPK every day to see if I will be ovulating and they have been negative every day. Today is CD 16 for me. I usually ovulate on CD 10. I don't know how my cycle is being affected or when I will get a period. We are hoping to miraculously conceive naturally before my next chance at IVF.

  3. Active cysts can completely stop follicles from developing.  I had to abandon my last IVF cycle because an active cyst was sucking up all of the stimulation medications and preventing the other follicles from growing (and thus, leaving me with an insufficient number of eggs).
