Does having blue eyes make you more sensitive to light?

I seem to squint more than my friends who have brown eyes, when the sun is strong, but i don't know whether this is just me or it's the same for everyone with blue eyes.

  1. Yes, I've read that somewhere. I have blue eyes too and I seem to have very sensitive eyes as well. I can't even swim in outdoor pools because the reflection of the sun practically blinds me. I think the lighter color you have, the more sensitive it is.

  2. Nope.

The color of your iris only says what color light they reflect. Which in your case is blue.

  3. Surely no

  4. I attended a conference where this very subject was discussed among eye specialists. It transpired that brown eyes have more protection against light than blue eyes.

On average. (Not always) people with blue eyes will find it more difficult to see in bright light than people with brown eyes, as the blue has less protection than brown,

so the colour is VERY relevant.

I found it hard to believe, but the eye specialists proved it with some activities. As I have blue/green eyes I have very sensitive eyes.

So... you're not the only ones.

Think about it. brown skin offers more protection against strong sunlight than pale skin. Correct?

The same for colour of eyes.

  5. hmmm.. blue eyes have less pigment than brown eyes just as fair skin has less pigment than dark skin. so I would assume it is more sensitive... not sure though.

  6. this is method used by parents to let you  know that you should take good care of your eyes get up early to go work. if yo think and feel some sort of irritation then you should see the Doctor who should advise you.

  7. Yes, it does. Blue eyes have less melanin pigment, and melaning protects from the sun's rays.

  8. The colour of your eyes are irrelevent.

  9. No the pigment has no effect on the retina.

  10. I have Brown eyes And I'm squinting all the time! jk

  11. think nah

bt when i put eye liner it gets ewwwww

  12. The colour of your eyes doesn't affect your vision in any way, the colour bit is just muscle which comes in many different pigmentation's.

It's likely just your perception of how much you squint and how much others squint, or merely a coincidence that you squint more and have lighter coloured eyes. Sometimes its hard to perceive ourselves comparatively to others, like when you think someone is taller than you but really your the same height.

Brown eyes do absorb more light, however thats irrelevant because the light rays which disturb you only shine into the black lens of your eye, the other light rays, which hit your coloured muscle have nothing to do with what you see and the intensity of what you see.

  13. Don't think so.

  14. i've never heard of such

  15. naw

  16. Ooh im not sure but not that i know of.....hmm.....good question but i think it's unlikely.
