Does having children create an in balance in your relationship?

Although my boyfriend is quite good at sharing household chores, cooking etc. it is still sometimes a struggle and I end up doing more. I'm worried that if we have children I'll end up doing most of the child rearing and additional tasks at home related to the child such as cooking meals, cleaning, washing clothes etc. For example, this man at work had a baby 1 week ago and already he's going to the gym 4 times a week whilst his wife's at home all day. This really annoys me. It feels like having a baby is sexist and women get most of the work, from pregnancy, to birth to aftermath...

  1. I do most the work when it comes to household things and taking care of the kids.  I work part time he works full time.  Im the one who gets up with the baby at night even if I have to get at 4am for work and he doesnt have to get up till 5.  honestly it feels like Im taking care of and cleaning up after 3 children.  I love the guy to death, but it really gets to me, and some days I tell him Ive had enough and his stuff will sit until he picks it up.  Im not his maid nor his mother.  hes 26 he can do things for himself too.  not to mention take care of the baby once in a while.

  2. well, you know, it would be hard to imagine a more sexist thing than female-only pregnancy and birthing.  It isn't like we men made that one up though.  And you get us back for it, over and over, believe me.

Don't have a kid if you and your partner are not mature enough to work out how to raise it.

  3. That's just the way it is. If you're not willing to do most of the work then you're not ready to have a baby. Most men will occasionally help out if you're lucky, that's about it.

Definately discuss these things with your hubby before you get pregnant or having a baby will drive your relationship apart.

  4. Honestly, you can't change a tiger's stripes.  Any imbalance that exists prior to having children will only be magnified when you have a baby.
