  1. no the cooling of warm air as it rises off the surface creates precipitation.


  2. yes , depending on the difference

    The collision of cold and warm airmasses cause the warm air to normally rise above the heavier cold air (while the cold "front" sinks below the warmer air). The rise of the warm moist air into the colder higher regions of the atmosphere allows droplets of water to condensate from the warm moist air causing precipitation to occur.
