  1. Well it can sure help, especially with having only 512mb compared to 3gigs.  Just think about how slow vista runs with 1gig and then think about trying to run a game on that same slow system...

  2. It can but not much, FPS is reliant on GPU and CPU

i'd change your graphics card, i got a geforce 7900gs 512mb and have no problem with fps on most games.

If you got the money go for a directx 10 card.

  3. Depends. Additional memory boosts up speed if pc had too much ram before the upgrade. For example if you have 1GB RAM, but vista takes 500mb and computer game 700mb, then this extra 200MB must be cached on hard drive, which decreases fps. If you have 2GB RAM, then all needed files can be stored in RAM and you get better fps. Upgrading to 4GB don't give performance boost, because it still caches only 500+700mb. I guess currently optimal amount of memory is 2gb.

You can open performance monitor (ctrl+alt+del, performance tab) and find out if computer uses over 90% physical memory.

edit: 8GB w/ x1250?? wow, it's like ferrari with ford sierra engine. Looks nice but completely useless.
