Question:

Does having the internet really help anyone get a job?

It seems no one pays attention to e-mail application submissions. I can't tell you how many times I've applied to some job on the internet and find out that it really isn't a real paying job or it is another scam to get you to buy into some idiot scam. I am wondering what to do because my resources are running out and I just can't afford to be without a job any longer and I can't afford to wait for someone to look at some resume on the computer. So at would the best way to get a job be when job prospects are really low or seemingly non-existent?

  1. The internet provides you with all kinds of resources including scams and other bad companies. I work from home but it isnt a job, more like a way to make extra money on the side around 100-200 extra dollars a month and sometimes more. You have to be careful and use sites like monster, snagajob, careerbuilder, and other known resources. You can have a look at how I use the interne to bring in extra money http://freemoneymakingresources.blogspot...

  2. I actually found my current job on Craigslist and it is a great job. You definitely have to be careful about which ones you apply for, as I know not all the ad's are legit but I am very happy with my job. I have always been a newspaper job looker but anymore companies are tending to look on line instead of placing an ad in the paper. Take a look on craigslist or any local paper website. I know it is hard to job look ad I wish you all the luck

  3. I got a Job that I had for a year from posting my information on Craigslist. I Received a telephone call from my ex-boss wanting an interview 25 days after it was posted. I had all but given up because it was the Holidays and I thought no one would be Hiring.

Looking for a job can be as time consuming as actually having one.

You just have to wade through the c**p. It seems like those scams are getting worse not better.

Apply at places you may not want to work like Wal Mart or fast food joints. In my experience, once you get a job, several others start calling.

  4. About 5 percent of those who get jobs got them through online only.  It's good to get your name out, as you don't know if and when someone might see your resume (it's happened to me).  I use these boards to see what the market is like and look at requirements, not to get a job.

  5. I drive interstate truck and can change jobs any day I want with the internet. It is a good tool for me anyway.

  6. I had one interview from an internet posting.

I got an email from someone saying they were interested in me. When I replied, I suddenly started receive a lot of spam on my email account.

I have found that a good cover letter gets your foot in the door faster than a resume.  Being persitant counts too

  7. If you post your resume on the "job boards" (e.g., Monster.com, Careerbuilder, Yahoo Hotjobs) then headhunters - and sometimes corporate personnel people - can search for people with the credentials they need.  You can also try applying for positions you see by searching on those sites.  It doesn't work to sent out blanket submissions, but if you have what is being looked-for, particularly if it is a more senior or more skill-specific position, then the Internet can definitely be a big help.

  8. I am also unemployed.  I lost my job a month ago and I have been looking for a new job for six months.  I have my resume on careerbuilder, monster, hotjobs, and I get calls for legitimate positions almost everyday.  My problem is that even after all my interviews I havent received even one offer.  It is a tough job market but I think you may want to keep looking for jobs on the computer.  It really depends on the type of jobs you are looking for.  Are you looking for professional salaried positions or are you looking for retail work?  If you are looking for professional salaried positions I would stick to the internet.  Gas costs too much to pound on doors all day.  If you are looking for a retail job then get out there and submit some applications.  Also, for hourly positions, you might try snagajob.com
