My friend got arrested while he was texting in his car at night. I'm not sure about his charge, but im pretty sure he didnt do wrong. He is in jail now and got his next court date. His car was towed and im worried about his car. What if he gets non guilty verdict, doesn't he need to pay for his towed car and jail covers it? or i better get his car ASAP? oh, im in IL.

  1. Yes, he will have to pay to get his car out of impound.  If he's in jail, he was probably driving on a suspended license.  Even if he's found not guilty, he will have to pay to get his car out of impound.  If he thinks that this is unjust, he can petition the court to pay his fee(s) and see how it goes from there.  Good luck!

  2. Holy cow, he got locked up for texting while driving.  There's definitely more to that story.  He will need to pay to get his car out of impound regardless.  The storage fees are going to pile up fast and if he doesn't get it out after a certain amount of time the vehicle could be sold to pay the fees.

  3. I wouldn't wait for any type of court date, and it probably won't matter.

The towing company is going to charge you for how long the car sits there, along with the tow charges. If it has only been a few days, pay the 100 or so bucks and get the car.

If they had probable cause to arrest him, they can legally  tow his car.. There is no way you will win anything as far as the county or state paying for the tow, even if found not-guilty later.

  4. IT DEPENDS IF HE WAS TOWED BY A . CONTRACTED TOW COMPANY HE MOST LIKELY WILL HAVE TO PAY. AND YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO CLAIM THE CAR WITHOUT A NOTARIZED LETTER BY THE REGISTERED OWNER.

  5. Its his responsibility for the towing fees regardless of the out come of the charges! Here its about 160$ + 65$ a day storage fees! If he's your friend Id get his ride out ASAP!
