  1. NOPE! in laptops it can help on power consumption because when ram shortage occur you pc will borrow to the hard drive making it more power consuming, it is advice that you must have a minimum of 1 gig of ram for optimum power savings. . .

  2. Yes, it does mean more power usage, but, as mentioned above, it's a fairly insignificant amount.

The first signs of power supply problems is usually evident in disrupted graphics.

All depends on the amount of power you have available and the specifications of you PSU. If you are already on the limit of what your PSU can maintain, the addition of more, or more powerful, RAM, can probably push it over the edge and cause problems.

However, like I said, it's highly unlikely.

    Hope this helped.

    Happy computing :)

  3. Higher capacity ram does mean more power usage but:

That is a difficult question, it depends on your computer usage.  If you have less than 1gb in your laptop adding the ram will actuality consume less battery power because windows will not have to swap as much data to the virtual memory in your swap file.  It also depends what version of Windows you use and if you do a lot of multi-tasking.  For maximum battery life 1gb is enough for Windows XP or Ubuntu, and 2gb is enough for Windows Vista unless you want to multitask demanding applications, any more ram and you will notice a drop in your run time by 5-10% when on battery power.

  4. higher speed will suck more power.

The extra ram size may have a small affect on power usage.

  5. Its not significant.

On the other hand, more RAM means your computer is all the more faster so you will do all your work faster. That will actually SAVE power as u wouldn't have the computer on for as long. But again, these are tiny insignificant details.

    the more RAM the better.
