Does highrise buildings and skyscrapers get hit by lightning more than low buildings ?

  1. Yes, they do. The lightning searches for the quickest possible root to the ground, which will, ofcourse, be higher objects including buildings and trees - Infact anything that is earthed will be hit by lightning if it is the quickest root to the ground.

  5. Emphatically yes.  Lightning always looks for the highest point, to move from the positive charged particles to the negative charged particles.  When you see a grass roofed house again, look at the veeery long, lightning conducter (steel pole) standing next to the building.
