  1. it does actually. imagine yourself running with fullspeed for a while and suddenly you stop. something with a computer

  2. Not really. It gives you a warning some times , but it doesnt really hurt anything.

  3. I used to do that when I was lazy but my dad (computer engineer) said the more you do it the more problems will come to your computer.

  4. your data being accessed would be lost and maybe corrupted and if u have bad luck then some of ur ram would go corrupted as well

  5. It really depends on what your computer is doing at the time.

Windows writes to your hard drive on a regular basis and if you hit the reset button when it is updating it's directory of files (MFT/FAT for the more technical peeps out there) you risk corrupting that part of the disk leaving Windows unable to boot as it can't find the necessary programs.

You won't do any hardware damage, if it does go wrong (not happened to me yet) a simple format and reinstall will have you up and running again.

  6. No, restarting your computer does not damage it. It just re boots. (It shuts down and boots up again.)

  7. If you see a tech who shuts off a computer, and starts counting to 10 before starting it up again (the countdown isn't needed now with newer drives, but you'll know an old timer with experience this way), you will understand why now -- hard reboots can tear your HDD to grinded platters.

Restart without a soft shutdown is a good way to learn not only the RMA process, but how to use the credit card.

  8. sometimes... if you are reading/writing to the HD at the time u hit reset, then files can get corrupt and u would have to do a reinstall of your OS, but if nothing is going on then NO, nothign would happen by hitting reset

  9. You mean holding in the power button too turn it on and off? It can damage the power supply and damage/loose data.

But if the button is meant to be hit too restart then no.

  10. no it does not hurt  your computer it powers it down and any info you have up on the screen will be lost
