If flat irons, and blowdryers damage your hair because of the heat, does that mean that hot water damages your hair?

I usually wash my hair under water thats a little over the average warm temperature, does this damage my hair?

I know, its a tad bit stupid.

But the curiosity kills me.

haha.

  1. No it's not bad. It's bad if you dye your hair because hot water opens up the follicles and lets the dye fade faster, whereas cold water closes 'em and keeps the dye in.

  2. no but if you want to lock in shine rinse in cold water for at least 15 sec. and longer if you can stand it.

  3. Water that is too hot would burn the skin of your scalp way before it damaged your hair.

  4. not sure but i use pretty hot water and sometimes makes my scalp dry

  5. Hot water doesnt damage your hair but it definitely gives you more chances of getting your hair frizzy. So for me I have to wash my hair with really cold water and it makes everything so much better. Hope I was able to help!!!

  6. hot water does damage your hair. like what you said with the flat irons and blow dryer, its the same with hot water. your hair will dry up since the water is hot and hot water evaporates. as the water evaporates, all the moisture from your hair will dry up with the water. also, all your natural oils will strip off easier. so dont use hot water. use warm water that doesnt feel hot at all, and than rinse with cold water. the cold water will help with frizz and dryness.

    hope ive helped :)

  7. nope its totally fine :)
