  1. usually not, home insurance does not usually cover general wear and tear or roofs! but i sugest contacting your insurance providor to find out for sure, there is no harm in asking! :)

  2. Only if your policy covers damage to outbuildings.

  3. no i think thats building insurance. household insurance is everythin in the house.

  4. I was asked this question when I was an insurance agent. In that case the roof was about 20 years old.

    The answer was definitely no!

As far as I remember the anticipated life of a 'normal' laminated flat roof was 7 years.

More expensive roof systems, e.g. resin + glass-fibre or butyl rubber should have an extended guarantee, in which case you should approach the contractor.

  5. If it was damaged by something falling on it, ( A chimney) then it would be covered.

If it needs replacing because it had reached the end of it's life, then NO

I was taking to an insurance broker and he said that it is not up to the insurance company to make you a better home than it was the day before.

  6. Easy answer, just read your policy document, if it is covered you will find it there, personally I think it's unlikely.

  7. if its damaged through accident then yes it should be covered

if it jsut needs replacing because of age or poor maintenance then no it isn't. most falt roofs have a life o around 10..15 years, which can be extended if weel maintained, or if using another form of waterproof membrane

  8. Unfortunately, the answer is no.  In order for a policy to respond, there would first need to be a definable and immediate loss caused by an insured peril.  In your case, this is simply deterioration of a roof.  Wear and tear is typically excluded as well.  If there was a fire or wind storm for example that caused damage, that would be covered as these types of perils are definable and immediate.  However, deterioration, which occurs over time is not and is therefore not covered by insurance.
