Does hunger cause heartburn?

Does anyone else feel that when their stomachs are empty or they have gone a few hours without eating that they get heartburn? why is this? what can be done about it?

  1. Yes,you can.Its because your stomach acid has nothing to do.You should eat something light like fruit if you are not hungry if you are hungry don't wait so long to eat.That will solve the problem.


  2. It could. If you haven't eaten for a long time then the acids in your stomach are still going to be churned out, so they'll build up without anything to dissolve and cause acid reflux.

  3. Yep it happens a lot to me. You can either eat frequent small meals/snacks or take something like Pepcid or Zantac that will help control the acid production in your stomach.

  4. Heartburn is caused by not having enough water in your system.

    To fix it, drink more water.  It will help with your heartburn, I promise.  I got that straight from my dr.  

    I was on Prilosec and still have to take it from time to time, when I don't drink enough water.  The heartburn goes away once my water level is where it should be.  

    You may have acid reflux.  Best to check with your dr. and see what they say.  

  5. yes i get it all the time... I think its cause the acid in the stomach doesn't have anything else to burn.
