Question:

Does in-car Bluetooth make a bluetooth feature on a portable GPS somewhat redundant?

We just got a new car that comes with bluetooth. I guess it will be mostly used for incoming calls. We are now shopping for a portable GPS because the factory price was outrageous. What other uses are there for the bluetooth function of a portable GPS besides picking up phone calls?

  1. Blue tooth is just an RF wireless method of connecting one item to another without the usual connecting cable. We now use it in the motorcycle market to connect helmet headsets to the motorcycle systems (Icom, CB radio, AM/FM, CD's, etc.) as well as such things as GPS, Cell phones and RADAR detecters.
