  1. No, increasing RAM means adding more memory. Memory is the temporary storage mechanism for computers. The more you have, the better (well, if your OS is 32-bit, you can only have a max of 3 gigabytes of ram).

Gigahertz (Ghz) is the processing speed. It is unrelated to the memory.

  2. No, it increases how many programs you can have open at once as well as making it more efficient since you won't have to load everything off of the hard drive every time.  Instead, it could load off of the memory instead.  But only after the application has already been loaded into the memory.

  3. no

  4. No.If your cpu is 1.8 to 3.4 Ghz any extra ram will not speed up the cpu in general, however,by adding more memory this allows the cpu to store more information in ram at a faster rate and also retrieve it without having to rely on using the hdd for instant access. So,adding extra memory will speed up your pc, but it cannot speed up the cpu as such. The only way to speed up your cpu is through overclocking, but as this is dangerous I'm not going to post it here.Hope you got the info you needed.

    Quick edit:

Get yourself 2Gb of RAM but make sure your motherboard can handle it,also look closely at what speed the ram runs at.

Most modern (i.e 2005 and newer) should handle DDR2 667 Mhz Memory.Just check your system and also take note of the FSB (Front Side Bus).

For more info get your pc details and either google it or yahoo it etc.

  5. Basically gives you more resources for running more programs..

  6. No

Ram is the MB or GB or memory

the GHZ is the speed of the processor (CPU) you will need to upgrade the CPU to get more GHZ's

  7. No but it improves overall processing ability

  8. No, it doesn't but the more hardcore games you play the more memory you need
