Does india have any current royalty?

and if so do they have any sway on the country or the people? do they live in palaces? whats the deal with them?

well there are a few kings od small districts and stuff there is no prominent royalty like queen elizabeth... they are respected( if they are good enough) and live in palaces(at least in district i live in) and use their palaces for betterment many such palanes and royality can be seen in state of rajasthan..

Yes and some of them do live in palaces but,unless they are elected,they have little or no influence.
