Does installing custom firmware erase everything off of your psp memory stick?

when you are installing custom firmware on your psp does it erase everything on your memory stick(your music,videos, and saved game data) also does it erase all of your emulators and roms that I loaded before hand? and also will i lose the custom firmware application that i used(the EBOOT PBP)

And would this also happen if i try to unbrick a psp?

You should back up the memory stick. Just copy everytihng to your desktop before flashing your hardware.

One other thing. It seems that you have already hacked it and are merely upgrading the firmware. I think this should be fine but just back it up just in case.
