  1. I doubt it

  2. Several points need to be clarified before an answer can be given.

In general, insurance covers the vehicle, not the driver, so the accident should be covered. The exception is where the insurance policy has an "unlicensed driver exception clause".

Are you an Italian citizen visiting here or a US resident?  If you are an Italian Citizen, check with the embassy and see if your Italian Drivers License is accepted in Georgia by Treaty between the US & Italy.

Most likely it is, as US forces occupied Italy after WWII, and most occupied countries have treaties with reciprocal agreements so US occupation forces didn't have to obtain foreign drivers license.

If you are covered by Treaty, then your license is good, and the insurance should cover you, and you need to obtain from the embassy the treaty wording and clause to present to the court for a dismissal of the citation.

If you are a US citizen or alien resident, than you will need a Georgia License.

  3. Doubtful, since you need a valid license to get insurance. The person who hit the rear of your car should be responsible for damage though.

  4. I don't believe so.

  5. The Governor of Montana (Marc Racicot) was caught driving without a valid driver's license and the question came up as to whether his insurance was valid and the insurance agent I talked to said "probably"
