  1. If you have a private insurance health plan , you may have coverage for glasses. You will have to call your insurance company and find out. With most private plans, you have to pay the supplier up front then submit your receipt.

As for the cost...it's kind of like asking how much is a car .

It depends on what frame you want, what kind of lenses you need, or want, what kind of coatings...ect...

Once you go there to choose, they will tell you the prices, then you can decide how much you want to spend.

  2. some will cover just call them and ask

  3. Most people pay over 100. Insurance for glasses is not a good economy if you have an option to include it in your coverage.

Most insurance will either not cover it, or will cover a fixed amount every couple years, or will cover say half the cost, up to some amount.

Because some work will require lenses that are strong and shatter proof, you need to consider whether you need to have more durable lenses.

Lenses get scratched, and soft plastic lenses even more. You need to consider that in choosing lenses.

Frames. the cheap plastic ones often get broken. Tough wire frames that fold away instead of breaking cost more.

If you need glasses for driving, you may not have a choice but to have them.

  4. Some insurance plans do, others don't. It depends on the company... you will have to ask your provider.

It may be the case that the provider will cover glasses but only certain styles from certain places (and Wal*Mart may not be one of them).

Without insurance, I have seen glasses be anywhere from $30 for a really weak prescription to $100 for a strong one. That might have something to do with the area in which I live, though.
