Does internet banking shut down over the weekend and on holidays?

Seems I will be a victim of bad timing with Labor Day weekend. I live in the UK, but just got back from the USA. On Friday evening funds were transferred from a PayPal account to my bank account. In the past this is quite speedy using the internet. But here it is monday evening and STILL it hasn't arrived!!! (3 whole days!) So maybe I've answered my own question! This is a three day weekend for the bank website as well, huh? And the credit card bill I was hoping to pay by Sept 3 probably will incur much interest. X*£!$%%%%*****

  1. Internet banking does not close down.  But the bank, itself, does.

  2. I'm in a similar situation as I just sold something on ebay and actually on thursday 2am I withdrew a big amount of money to my chase bank account.

And hoping that the online banking system would finish the transaction and usually even with around the 4k mark of transfering the amount of money to my bank account from paypal took a good 3 days.  I was hoping it would show up in my bank account today but it has not and I'm pretty sure that this has to do with the online banking system not being active or up to date due to the labor day holiday.

I'm pretty sure that tomorrow it will show up in my chase bank account.

  3. US banking transactions are posted Mon-Fri night. All transactions pending are resolved at that time, or delays (in the case of held deposits).  Therefore, if your deposit occurred after 3 PM on Friday (the customary cutoff for the business day), your transaction will be posted on Monday Night. This has nothing to do with how the transaction was made (i.e. internet or in-person).
