I am 13 and I do not want braces! I'm thinking of getting invisalign. If you've had it, please tell me about it. Especially if you're my age or near it! Thank you.

  1. I'm wearing Invisalign right now, for the last 3 months.

I’m old and I think people over 30 look ridiculous with metal braces but at 13, you could pull it off easily.

I see a teenager with metal braces, all I see is a future adult who’ll be lucky to go through life with straight teeth.

I needed to finally fix my teeth but I did not like the idea of metal braces. Plus, according to my son who had them, they hurt a lot, especially when you have to go to the orthodontist who will tighten things.

With Invisilign, there’s practically no pain. It feels very tight for a few minutes when you start a new aligner, every two weeks. Then you still feel it for a couple of days and then you forget about it.

I have a 6 months treatment for the top and 15 months for the bottom. I’m fixing an open bite, some crowding and a midline shift.

The nice thing about Invisalign is that you take them off to eat and then brush/floss before putting them back in so your teeth are easy to clean and unless people are standing 2 feet or less from you, they won’t notice them. And I really don’t care anyway if people notice my shiny plastic teeth…at least I’m fixing it.

  2. Invisalign does work, actually, just not as quickly and efficiently as braces. Any dental product will fix your teeth eventually, i.e. braces, ceramic braces, retainers, Invisalign. I am 16 and know many girls and boys with all of these. Braces are obviously the best option, because they work so quickly and efficiently. Plus they're not that big of a deal. People won't really think twice about it. Retainers work the slowest and they are only an option if your teeth aren't too bad. Plus, it's kind of hard to remember to take it off and on. Ceramic braces work as quickly and efficiently as regular braces, except they look a lot whiter. While they do look white and blend in better, they are still recognizable as braces and they are a lot thicker, so they kind of stick out a little which looks a little weird. Invisalign is great because they are basically invisible and are the least noticeable by far. The only problem is that they are still noticeable and give your teeth a weird tint and look like all your teeth are merged together. Plus sometimes they get little air bubbles in them which look strange, and they aren't a pretty sight while you're eating. And if you have to take them out while you're eating, that's always a little off-putting for whoever you're with. Plus they take FOREVER to work! And I really mean forever. You should really consider what's worse: 1 year with braces or 5 years of Invisalign? That was the choice I was faced with, and I went with braces. It's really not that big of a deal once you get them on. I mean, people won't care about it as much as you think they might.

Yeah, I had braces, and really? Everybody has them, nobody notices them. Invisalign, which I had after crowns were put on to keep my teeth in place, was TERRIBLE. You're always sucking water out of it, it can discolor easily, you pop it out to eat, you slur awfully when you talk ...

  4. it works differently for everyone, but supposedly traditional braces work better. Dont get your hopes up too much with invisilign, its mostly for minor problems and for adults. Dont worry about the braces, 13 is a good age to get them and you will be much happier with your smile.
