  1. Ok i will wait for the other verses first, that says you can beat your wife, this verse says miswak, do you know what that means in Arabic, to refrain from sexual intercourse, not a toothbrush as some believe.

    I dare you to give me 3 verses not a thousand from the Quran that says beat your wife? I will wait.

    The prophet of Allah (as) said, don't even hit your wives with the twig of a basil leaf.

    EDIT: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> still waiting

  2. Beat wife with a light tap using a miswaak or a stick , not bash them up violenty :) or hit them hard with the stick..

  3. Aaishah (Radhiallahu 'Anha) said: "Allaah's Messenger (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) never hit anything with his hand ever, except when fighting in the path of Allaah. Nor did he ever hit a servant or a woman."  [Recorded by Ibn Maajah. Al-Albaanee graded it Saheeh.]

    In ‘Sahih Muslim, Book 018, Number 4251’ we see that a woman in islam is even allowed to take from her husband's property without his knowledge if he falls below this basic level of supporting her. Also Umar Ibn khattab told the prophet that ‘women had the upperhand over men in Medina in’  in Sahih Bukhari,Volume 7, Book 62, Number 119’ , the prophet showed a smile after hearing this.

    "...Do not retain them (i.e., your wives) to harm them...”(The Noble Quran, 2:231)

    (Sunan Abu-Dawud, Book 11, Marriage (Kitab Al-Nikah), Number 2139)

    Narrated Mu'awiyah al-Qushayri: "I went to the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) and asked him: What do you say (command) about our wives? He replied: Give them food what you have for yourself, and clothe them by which you clothe yourself, and do not beat them, and do not revile them.”

    Let me clarify the verse which you are talking about.

    4:34 MEN SHALL take full care of women with the bounties which God has bestowed more abundantly on the former than on the latter, [42] and with what they may spend out of their possessions. And the righteous women are the truly devout ones, who guard the intimacy which God has [ordained to be] guarded. And as for those women whose ill-will [44] you have reason to fear, admonish them [first]; then leave them alone in bed; then beat them; and if thereupon they pay you heed, do not seek to harm them. Behold, God is indeed most high, great!

    Alrrijalu qawwamoona AAala alnnisai bima faddala Allahu baAAdahum AAala baAAdin wabima anfaqoo min amwalihim faalssalihatu qanitatun hafithatun lilghaybi bima hafitha Allahu waallatee takhafoona nushoozahunna faAAithoohunna waohjuroohunna fee almadajiAAi waidriboohunna fain ataAAnakum fala tabghoo AAalayhinna sabeelan inna Allaha kana AAaliyyan kabeeran

    Faidriboo = Scourge

    waidriboohunna = light tap.

    Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all). (4:34)

    Hence there is no concept of a man being MASTER of a woman. It is said that a man is a PROTECTOR and MAINTAINER of a woman.

    Secondly to come to the beating part. Firstly you make it sound that if a wife disobeys, the husband is allowed to beat the c**p out of her. That is wrong. Quran is referring to the women who cheat on their husbands. Who go sleep with another man (men) while their husbands are not aware.

    The word "beating" is used in the verse, but it does not mean "physical abuse". The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) explained it "dharban ghayra mubarrih" which means "a light tap that leaves no mark". He further said that face must be avoided. Some other scholars are of the view that it is no more than a light touch by siwak, or toothbrush.

    Generally, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to discourage his followers from taking even this measure. He never hit any female, and he used to say that the best of men are those who do not hit their wives. In one hadith he expressed his extreme repulsion from this behavior and said, "How does anyone of you beat his wife as he beats the stallion camel and then embrace (sleep with) her?” (Al-Bukhari, English Translation, vol. 8, Hadith 68, pp. 42-43)

    A couple of his(saw) other sayings are as follows:

    "Do not beat the female servants of Allah";

    "Some (women) visited my family complaining about their husbands (beating them). These (husbands) are not the best of you."

    Hope it answers the question.

  4. look sis

    read the whole verse not just a part of it

    Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (next), refuse to share their, beds (and last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance): for Allah is Most High, Great (above you all). (34)

    lets  come to the tafseer part

    1. beating on face is prohibted

    2.hard beating (which leaves bruses and rashes) is prohibted

    3.this beating is only very light just to make her feel that "i am not happy with you" this is not the orignal punisment

    4. even though prophet (PBUH)had good and bad times with his wives but he never touched them in a way to punish them

    he never even beated them lightly!!!!!!

    this beating can only be done in extreme cases

    MAY ALLAH (SW) show us alla the right path

  5. How can light beating be justified ??? What makes men so great they can decide when the women needs this "light beating" ? Can she turn around and give him "light beatings" on occasion ? How do the Muslims women tolerate any kind of beating and giving the man any right to judge when she needs it ?

    Are you saying the light beating is not misused ?

    Why do Muslims not get so put out if a muslim woman asks this question while if a non- muslim asks not to trash Islam but because she is a feminist. She is acused of hate . Nor can you admit to a non - muslim that "light beating" has been supported in koran. Why the double standards ?
