Does it EVER rain in SoCal???

Question

This is my first full year here and man, half of the state is on fire, there is a potential water shortage but everyone has to use sprinklers or else the grasses and plants wither and die, which is another fire hazard, so I was just wondering does it ever rain in these parts???

I hear They only get an inch of rain during the whole Summer.  Ouch.

Yes, it does. I'm Northern Californian, but used to live down there. Most places in California won't get rain at all during the summer. Although, the past few years have been exceptionally dry. Here are the averages for L.A.:

Keep on watering the plants, but conserve as much water as you can.

I've lived in San Diego my whole life, and yes there's been times we get so much rain it floods. However, we've been in a drought for a long time. Of course during winter time we'll have a few days of drizzle, once in a while a good rain, but unfortunately we're probably all going to have dead plants and grass in the future because next year we most likely will have restrictions on water use for the outdoors.  Right now it's voluntary cutback, but unless more rain comes on a regular basis, it could come to the point where drastic cutbacks in water use will be madatory and  you will be fined for landscape use of water.
