I filed chapter 13 this year. Now I'm willing to get a license as a Health insurance agent, but the state and the Insurance company are going to do a background check on me and I don't know how will that affect me in getting the license. I just don't want to pay for the course and the application and all that not knowing if there is a possibility that they could reject my application because of my bankruptcy case.

please only serious answers!

  1. Its going to depend on what company. I don't know that any companies have set rules that say they will not contract anyone with a bankruptcy. Its just a case-by-case determination. One guy at my agency got licensed with a bankruptcy, but another did not. Unfortunately, the only way to find out is to go through the whole process.

  2. I located a nice list of Florida insurance agents. http://www.findinsuranceagency.com/Flori... I'd try visting a few of them and see if they can help you out. A licensed agent should be able to assist you.
