Question:

Does it annoy you when people deny evolution when they have no idea how evolution actually works?

I am so sick of people saying that if evolution was real why are apes not evolving today? and then they say it is a load of c**p.

Apes are our closest relative NOT our ancestors. We came from a common ancestor with apes not from apes directly.

Also evolution happens slowly over many generations of life. It is when a slight change (or mutation) has a benefit to the animal and so they are able to pass on offspring with the same change when others may die. It does not happen all at once like a monkey gives birth to a human as alot of people on R&S seem to believe.

Do you find it hilarious when people are so ignorant?

  1. It isn't funny, it's like trying to teach a fish how to ride a bicycle, but you have wait for it to evolve into a tetrapod first.

  2. Yes.  It also annoys me when people claim that others are illogical without an understanding of logic or any number of other "I have no Idea what I'm talking about" statements.

  3. I think people just fear what they don't understand. My boyfriend is religious and if anything doesn't involve god he has a cow attack. I have to say, I believe in evolution and the big bang theory and I think if people are so ignorant about it, maybe they should read about it and learn before they judge.

  4. I ABSOLUTELY find it hilarious when people are ignorant to the fact that evolution is true!

I understand what people are talking about when they speak of evolution. I just disagree with it. It is a hilarious theory. Something someone just came up with because they was bored and had nothing else to think about.

  5. No. I think it's kind of sad that most people are ignorant, and not only do they not feel their ignorance and attempt to change it, they FLAUNT their ignorance.

So, just remember: people are stupid and there's no use getting upset about it because there is nothing you could do to change it.

  6. I am a Christian and when I went to school (long time ago) we did learn evolution right alongside creation. We studied all the facts and the pictures (or drawings) and so on. Even before I became a Christian I found the idea of evolution ridiculous. I'm not just looking at how man supposedly came to be. I'm looking at all of creation. It's simply impossible that everything just happened by chance.

  7. It's mostly aggravating when they try to interfere with evolution being properly taught in science class.

  8. Ignorance just shows poor education. That mixed with arrogance is so dangerous.

It is so arrogant to believe that a handful of people, with no evidence think that a book written hundreds of years ago is 'the Truth'. And millions of researchers from so many disciplines of science across so many cultures are wrong.

Indeed it is dangerously arrogant because, to prove themselves right creationists have to destroy science FULL STOP.

  9. I find it odd that people talk about micro-evolution and macro-evolution but not about micro-gravitation and macro-gravitation. Some consistency would be nice...

  10. I totally agree. They should learn about it before they judge it.

When I was a Christian, I started to read the bible more and ended up becoming an atheist because of it's complete nonsense.

Evolution on the other hand has evidence and isn't nonsense.

  11. Well, to be honest, how many of these people do you know that have studied evolution in great detail? :)

Now, when I studied it, in too much detail for my tastes, there were some things that aren't pointed out in k-grade. :)  I was told that each of the "races" came from a specific branch of the tree, of Great Apes.  In this, there were two major classes, meat eaters and veggies. :)  Each race then kept some traits of this parent group, but were NOT in the same class as the common ape.  They would be like our cousins or something.

Of these races, one had a "missing link" that couldn't be accounted for.  It might have been for all of them together, or just one group, but they couldn't find that one part of the DNA that made "us" different from the others.

To go into any more detail, I would need to dig that old book up, and it would bore you to death, since it is drier than Death Valley. :)

However, all this seems moot since I was later told that Darwin was wrong, the skull was from two or more apes, and that the basics fell through for several species.  In short, there is about as much proof for Creation as Evolution. :)

If you ever sit back and watch people, you might find it hilarious how much they do ACT like apes, even if no close relation. :)

  12. I'm going to go with your argument and say that evolution is through mutations. So what causes the mutations? Environment? Then what kind of environment would there have to be to get to the human level we are at today? What mutations caused us to think rationally, design and use complex tools, have different forms of language, and be the only species that has offspring completely dependent on it's parents for so long? Show me even one mutation that would cause the least of these and I might believe evolution is possible.

  13. no cuz they are smart trusting the Lord. You make bigoted assumptions and generalizations. We have gone to school to hear their lies...Give it a rest. See theories

  14. No. What annoys me is when dumbasses keep asking the same stupid question about one subject in the entirely wrong section.

  15. how does it work and why didn't it happen any where else

maybe you should hang pictures of apes and ameba's on your walls so when people come over you can show them your distant relatives

look up SYMBIOSIS and then explain it

i find it very ignorant when people talk about things that never happened

its call a lie ,stop telling them

  16. Show me one good mutation and I will believe...that's right there isn't any.

macro-evolution doesn't happen. that means that no information is added to the gene-pool. The animals only produce variations in their own kind(black people, white people, small dogs, big dogs...).

macro-evolution is not possible and there is no evidence for it. None. So, why should I believe a lie.

EDIT: to the guramy guy: oh man you are sooo good at lying. We both know that the information for those adaptations already exists in the chromosomes. So, once again it's no macro evolution. It's just some genes getting activated and others getting deactivated. The information is already present. No evolutionary leap there....

For example: there are 13 genes in the chromosomes that acting together produce skin color. White people have some of the 13 genes activated and some deactivated. Black people have the same genes but some are active, some are not. So, to say that the change in skin color is a evolutionary step it's not only a big error, but a big lie. I'm still waiting for one single evolutionary mutation.... that's right...it's not possible.

Evolution is a hoax and the devil is laughing at you people.

Final edit:so i guess that i win the best answer award by looking at the thumbs down.... the point is that i'm doing everything to show you evidence, but i can't overcome your free will. there are hundreds of thousands of creation web sites and books. you just have to believe the truth. good luck and may God give you wisdom.

  17. Kiwi Mum it actually saddens me. Great post.

  18. If Jesus ever were to come back, the first thing He'd do is overturn all those tables in the backs of evangelical churches that peddle that creationist nonsense...

....What you need to do to refute them is to hand them a book that explains evolution...except that they won't read it because the books/ideas they have already been exposed to tell them there is a great satanic conspiracy to make them leave their quaint poetic literalism...or they will burn forever in h**l...

...but there are encouraging signs, nonetheless...a generation ago, creationists denied all aspects of evolution...nowadays, it's not uncommon to find them (even on this forum) that admit to what they term "micro-evolution", they still stand "firm" against what they call "macro-evolution"...don't worry if you haven't heard these terms - they are made up by the creationists...the point though is that they are beginning to change (dare I say "evolve"?) their fallicious nonsense more in line with scientific understanding everyday...maybe by the time their grandkids get here, they will get pretty much caught up, and stick to just filling in holes with God putty instead of making stuff up that isn't true...

    ...babysteps, that's what it takes...babysteps...

    ....

  19. Christians believe only what is in the Bible. Atheists believe only things for which there is evidence.

Christians don't have a problem with evolution: they have a problem with the truth.

No, it doesn't bother me that Christians deny the truth. If they accepted the truth they would no longer be Christians.

  20. this one lady thought only humans were the ones to evolve and i lol'd :D have a good one

    @ jan...

    lol

    @ good guy

how about the one that makes africans less immune to malaria? or is that not good enough?

white people lighter to avoid UV poisoning

    mammary glands

    blastocysts

    osteosysts

    hemoglobin production

    T-cell generation

none of these doing it for you?

  21. I deny evolution and yes I know how it works. Bottom line, it's not working and I've refuted it several times in R&S. That's evident by all of the thumbs down that I receive and the thumbs down aren't because I'm wrong rather they are given because evolutionists hate getting proved wrong.

  22. yes, it annoys me like crazy!! it also annoys me that non christian people can say anything they want in school about how retarded religion is, but christians cant say anything about jesus or about their religion without getting in trouble.

  23. Apes are Evolving, Even Today.

EDIT: Good_Guy  ÃƒÂ—‘אל-הין רחיצנא Consider this:

Here is your Example of Mutation.  Somehow, I Don't Believe it Will Change your Mind.

  24. The theory of evolution is the belief that all life evolved from a one-celled organism. But the fossil record does not support the theory because the fossil record does not blend by small change. There are places where hundreds of millions of years of fossil evidence are exposed, and it shows that new creatures appear fully developed and remain virtually unchanged for millions of years until extinction.

The ratio is 10,000 harmful mutations to 1 beneficial mutation.

  25. natural selection

  26. It annoys me to the point of screaming.

No, I don't find it hilarious... it makes me want to cry.

    Superhuman mutant athlete.

Ignorance is the queen of the world...

  27. I think their problem is not evolution but abiogenesis.  And fossil evidence has revealed that a certain kind of mammal had smaller brains than ours.  There is no evidence supporting that these creatures became humans, only similarities to the human kind.  As you know, most of the animals that have ever lived on this planet are now extinct. Is that because they died off or adapted (evolved) into another form we do not know.  It is stipulation, and most scientists know this.

However, since 'gods' cannot be seen nor measured by scientific method, it is automatically thrown out as an impossibility.  It is logical to do so.

But don't try and sell evolution and abiogenesis as absolute truth, when there is no 'absolute truth' in science, only facts based on observation.  We cannot go back and observe fully and to our satisfaction what happened millions of years ago, so our observation at this point in time is incomplete.
