I get that they worry about the pitch count and their arms but they won't start for another 5 games and that's plenty of time to rest.

  1. what r u retarded?

  2. You need a prescription from Doc Halladay.

  3. No, throwing too many pitches can really mess up your arm, and if you are not careful, you might wind up going fifty days between starts instead of five because of an injury.

  4. bothers me only if the guy is on my fantasy team! Lost points!!

  5. the manager has more to worry about than a statistic.  A complete game is great, and its a boost of confidence for the pitcher and the whole team.  The problem is that the manager has to worry about his next start, and also injury.  If a pitcher has thrown over 120 pitches, you can imagine he wont come in the next inning when they have a closer ready to go.  So no, it does not bother me because what really matters is that +1 in the win column.

  6. I'm not a big fan of pitch counts myself (except for young minor leaguers) but a manager has to make a decision based not just on that start but on the next one as well. I was talking to an ex-MLBer a while back about pitch counts and he said any big league starter can throw 120-130 pitches in a game, but what will he do in his next start? If he is only good for 70-80 or five innings or whatever, in the end it's a negative in terms of what it would do for the bullpen.

  7. Oh yeah it does get annoying... but I believe if they have a game the next day and they want o play the guy it is partially excusable, but if they have no game or they don't intend on playing him then it is pointless, confusing, and annoying!!!

  8. It bothers me to no end! Back in the early days guys would throw consecutive cgs on no days rest all the time! and these guys were regular ol guys with nowhere near the conditioning pitchers have now. Its complete bs.

  9. It doesnt bother me to be honest when a pitcher gets pulled when he could go for the complete game. All i care about is the win.  If the score is pretty much locked in, yea, i would like to see the pitcher finish the game, shake the hands of the catcher and embrace the crowd's cheers(or boos).  I think he defiently deserves it.

But if the game is close and the pitcher has like 110 pitches and is only up by 1, i rather have a reliable closer finish off the game and clinch the game.  Hey the guy still pitched a solid 8 innings for me and im grateful, but i want the win.  CGs are just a statistic.
